Williston State College Men’s Basketball Falls to NDSCS at Home
Williston, N.D. — The Williston State College men's basketball team dropped a home contest to North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday, falling 93-50 despite strong effort in front of the home crowd.
Williston State battled early, but NDSCS established control with efficient shooting and strong work on the glass. The visitors shot 54.4 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range, while also holding a 48-30 rebounding advantage.
Four NDSCS starters finished in double figures, led by 18 points and 11 rebounds from Jersey Berg. Dani Jordan and Sophie Barker each added 17 points, while Leila Heffernan contributed 13 points along with five steals and two blocks. The Wildcats' balanced offensive attack resulted in 16 assists on 37 made field goals.
Williston State was led by Maggie Westling, who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ava Boyes added 13 points, while Peyton Gette chipped in eight. Despite generating quality looks, the Tetons shot 28.4 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. Free-throw shooting also proved challenging, as Williston State went 8-of-18 from the line.
Defensively, Williston State forced 12 turnovers and collected five steals, but struggled to contain NDSCS's perimeter shooting and second-chance opportunities. The Tetons finished with 30 total rebounds and seven assists on 19 made field goals.
