Williston State Men Defeat Dawson 86–68
The Williston State College men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive effort to secure an 86–68 victory over Dawson Community College.
The game was competitive early, with Dawson hanging around behind solid guard play, but Williston State gradually took control by winning the rebounding battle and knocking down timely perimeter shots. The Tetons finished with a 48–43 edge on the glass and hit 11 three-pointers, creating separation as the game wore on.
Eden Hobbs led the way for Williston State with a game-high 28 points, shooting 10-of-21 from the floor and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Josiah McDonald added 22 points while doing a little bit of everything, finishing with 12 rebounds and six assists for a double-double. Andrew Sauer also reached double figures with 20 points, including three three-pointers, giving the Tetons a strong scoring punch in the backcourt.
Carson Haerer contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and five steals, helping set the tone defensively. In the paint, Grantham Milner anchored the defense with 12 rebounds and six blocks, limiting Dawson's second-chance opportunities.
Dawson was led by Brandon Hymes, who scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Kai Guess added 16 points. Aries Lewis chipped in 11 points, but Dawson struggled from long range, shooting just 4-of-23 (17.4%) from three-point distance. Turnovers also proved costly for the Buccaneers, who committed 18 on the night.
Williston State shot 39.5% from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range, using ball movement and defensive pressure to control the second half. With the win, the Tetons continued to build momentum as they move forward in conference play, showing depth, toughness, and the ability to close out games when it matters most.
