Tetons Drop Both in Casper as Offensive Surges Fall Short
CASPER, Wyo. — The Williston State College men's basketball team left Casper empty-handed over the weekend, falling to Western Wyoming on Friday and Casper College on Saturday despite strong individual performances.
Friday: Western Wyoming 85, Williston State 65
The Tetons opened the two-game road swing with an 85–65 loss to Western Wyoming. Though Williston State battled throughout the first half, Western's pace and efficiency gradually created separation. Turnovers and cold stretches from beyond the arc proved costly, and the Tetons were unable to mount a late comeback.
Details from Friday's matchup were not provided, but the loss dropped Williston State to 0–1 on the weekend heading into a tough showdown with nationally respected Casper College.
Saturday: Casper 103, Williston State 92
Saturday's matchup proved far more explosive offensively, but Williston State couldn't keep pace with a red-hot Casper College squad in a 103–92 shootout.
The Tetons shot 46.8% from the field and put five players in double figures, but Casper countered with 54.5% shooting, superior depth, and a commanding 23-for-30 performance at the free-throw line.
Hobbs and McDonald Lead the Charge
Sophomore guard Eden Hobbs delivered a standout performance, scoring 31 points on 14-for-26 shooting. Hobbs repeatedly broke down Casper's defense, attacking the rim and generating offense when the Tetons needed it most.
Josiah McDonald added 21 points, knocking down four three-pointers while logging all 40 minutes. McDonald also contributed seven rebounds and three assists.
Forward Andrew Sauer was a steady inside presence with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Carson Haerer filled the stat sheet with 13 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Grantham Milner chipped in 9 points and 6 boards, rounding out a productive night from the starting unit.
Casper's Balanced Attack Too Much to Contain
Casper showcased why they remain one of Region IX's most potent offenses. Four Thunderbirds scored 17 or more, led by Zaire Richardson's 27 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting night.
Forward Buai Luak gave the Tetons trouble inside, posting 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Aaron Sievert added 24 points and three made threes.
Casper controlled the glass 33–36 and capitalized on Williston State's 15 turnovers, frequently turning mistakes into points the other way.
