Tetons Historic Season Comes A Close
The 2026 Williston State Tetons baseball season came to a close over the weekend as the Tetons dropped a two-game series to Iowa Central, ending a historic year with a 47-15 overall record.
Facing the top offensive lineup in NJCAA Division II baseball, the Tetons battled throughout the series but were unable to slow down Iowa Central's powerful attack.
In game one, Williston State collected four hits and scored three runs in the loss. Jason Carbno led the offense with a hit and RBI, while Bradley Cepada also drove in a run. Dylan Klossner, Ashton Sweet and Gage Macri each added hits for the Tetons.
On the mound, Nick Shrider got the start before Tyler Morales, Dylan Gierke and Cody Nash worked in relief. Gierke struck out three batters in 1.1 innings of work.
The Tetons bounced back with a stronger offensive showing in game two, but Iowa Central once again used its explosive offense to pull away late. Bradley Cepada paced Williston State with a two-hit performance and scored a run, while Grant Nekuza, Jason Carbno and Rylan Nohr each drove in runs. Dylan Klossner also scored and added a hit in the season finale.
Collin Cobb turned in a solid start on the mound, striking out nine batters across 5.2 innings while allowing just three earned runs. Lachlan Amon and Andrew Maltar appeared in relief.
Williston State had opportunities throughout game two and continued to battle until the final out, but Iowa Central's offense proved difficult to contain all series long.
Despite the ending, the 2026 campaign will go down as one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Tetons finished with 47 wins, a MonDak Championship, and a Region 13 Championship.
Stay tuned for postseason honors and award announcements as several Tetons are expected to receive recognition for their outstanding seasons.
