Tetons Sweep Dawson to Bounce Back from Miles Loss
Williston, N.D. — The Williston State College volleyball team showed resilience on Wednesday night, defeating Dawson Community College in three straight sets after losing the first two. The win was the perfect response after a tough four-set loss to Miles the night before.
The Tetons (9-5) were powered by a dominant performance from freshman outside hitter Dani Jordan, who tallied a match-high 24 kills while hitting .408. Jordan also chipped in three service aces and 12 digs, finishing with 27.5 points to pace the WSC attack.
Sophomore standout Ella Morken was also sharp at the net, recording 16 kills on .333 hitting while adding two service aces and four digs. Middle hitter Kallee Hopes chipped in with eight kills at a .286 clip, while Cailyn Fraser contributed seven kills and steady play across the front row.
Setter Tristy Kreil kept the Tetons' offense in rhythm, dishing out 29 assists while libero Abi Elkins anchored the back row with a match-high 20 digs. Freshman setter Paula Blanco Retuerta also distributed the ball effectively, handing out 24 assists and adding three aces.
As a team, Williston State hit an efficient .283 with 62 kills on the night. The Tetons also served tough, collecting 12 aces, while their defensive effort produced 76 digs and six blocks.
The victory gives the Tetons a key conference win and momentum as they prepare to take on Lake Region on Tuesday in "The Well".
