Tetons Battle to 2-2 Weekend in Gillette
The Williston State College volleyball team put together a gritty effort this past weekend in Gillette, WY, finishing with a 2-2 record against a strong field of competition.
The Tetons opened play on Friday against host Gillette College, falling in straight sets to a well-rounded Pronghorn squad. Williston State bounced back in impressive fashion later that day, sweeping Colorado Northwestern 3-0. Freshman outside hitter Dani Jordan powered the offense with 13 kills, pacing the Tetons to their first victory of the weekend.
Saturday brought another fast start, as the Tetons rolled past MonDak rival Dakota College at Bottineau in three straight sets. Sophomore standout Ella Morken took charge at the net, finishing with a team-high 12 kills to lead the balanced attack.
In the final match of the weekend, Williston State pushed Northwest College but came up short, falling 3-1 in a hard-fought battle.
With the split, the Tetons move to 5-3 and are gaining momentum and valuable early-season experience. They return to action on September 12th in Powell, WY, where they'll look to build on their strong start.
