Tetons Volleyball Opens 2025 Season Strong in Minnesota
The Williston State College volleyball team opened their 2025 campaign in impressive fashion, going 3-1 at a weekend tournament in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The Tetons battled through four matches, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive grit as they set the tone for the season.
WSC started the weekend with a five-set thriller over Riverland, grinding out a hard-fought victory to notch their first win of the year. The momentum carried into the next two matches, where the Tetons swept Anoka Ramsey in straight sets and followed it up with another three-set sweep over Ridgewater.
The lone setback came against national powerhouse Minnesota West, the No. 3 ranked team in the country. Despite competing hard, the Tetons fell in straight sets, finishing the weekend at 3-1.
Sophomore standout Ella Morken led the way offensively, recording 46 kills while hitting at an efficient .281 clip. On the defensive side, freshman libero Emma Hane anchored the back row, collecting 43 digs over the weekend—an average of 3.07 per set.
Head Coach Nathan Martell was encouraged by the team's performance to open the season.
"We had a really good weekend overall going 3-1," Martell said. "I'm excited to see how we can continue to develop throughout the season."
The Tetons return home with confidence and momentum, eager to build on their strong start as they continue nonconference play this weekend in Gillette, WY.
