Tetons Punch Ticket to National Tournament for First Time Since 2013
WILLISTON, N.D. – The Williston State College women's basketball team is headed back to the national stage.
The Tetons secured their spot in the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2013 with a 70-62 victory over Triton College. With the win, Williston State improves to an impressive 32-1 on the season.
Williston State leaned on a balanced offensive attack in the victory, led by Dani Jordan and Lela Heffernan, who each scored 15 points to pace the Tetons.
While the scoring leaders played a big role, it was Sophie Barker who delivered one of the most complete performances of the night. Barker finished with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals while playing all 40 minutes, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor.
Her defensive pressure and energy helped the Tetons maintain control in a physical matchup and ultimately secure the program's long-awaited return to the national tournament.
With the victory, Williston State advances to the NJCAA National Tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where the Tetons will look to continue their historic season.
Additional information on tournament matchups and schedules will be released as it becomes available.
