Tetons Win Region 13 Tournament
The Williston State College Tetons captured the NJCAA Region 13 Women's Basketball Tournament championship with a 76–59 win over the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats, punching their ticket to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball North Central District Championship in Chicago.
Tournament MVP Jersey Berg led the Tetons with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, continuing her dominant tournament run. She was one of three Williston State players in double figures.
Sophie Barker paced the offense with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, knocking down four three-pointers while controlling the game on both ends. Taylah Murtagh added 18 points and also hit four threes, helping the Tetons stretch the floor.
Williston State shot 41.8% from the field and 37.5% from three, while also forcing 13 turnovers. The Tetons' interior presence was highlighted by Emily Fixico, who grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots off the bench.
For NDSCS, Maggie Westling delivered a standout performance with 22 points and 15 rebounds, but the Wildcats struggled from long range, hitting just 3 of 18 from beyond the arc.
With the victory, Williston State advances to face Triton College in the North Central District Championship in Chicago, with a spot in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship on the line.
