Women's Basketball Downs NDSCS
In front of a record-breaking home crowd, the Williston State College women's basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, rolling past North Dakota State College of Science 93-50 in a statement victory.
The Tetons fed off the electric atmosphere from the opening tip, shooting a blistering 54.4 percent from the floor and knocking down 11-of-25 from beyond the arc. With the stands packed and the energy palpable, Williston State turned the night into a showcase of depth, balance and defensive intensity.
Four starters scored in double figures, led by Jersey Berg's dominant all-around effort. Berg poured in 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting while hauling in a game-high 11 rebounds to complete a double-double. She controlled the paint on both ends, helping Williston State build a commanding rebounding advantage, 48-30.
Sophie Barker matched Berg's 17 points with an efficient outing of her own, connecting on 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-5 from deep. She also went 6-of-8 at the free-throw line and dished out four assists, helping orchestrate an offense that finished with 16 assists on 37 made baskets.
Dani Jordan added 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a strong two-way performance, while Taylah Murtagh chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and three assists. Leila Heffernan rounded out the starting unit with 13 points, five rebounds, five steals and two blocks, anchoring a defensive effort that forced 16 turnovers and held NDSCS to just 28.4 percent shooting.
The Tetons set the tone early, pushing the pace and sharing the ball to create open looks from the perimeter. A flurry of second-quarter three-pointers brought the home crowd to its feet and stretched the lead to double digits. By halftime, Williston State was firmly in control — and never looked back.
Lucia Bellido provided a spark off the bench with nine points and six rebounds, while Lyssa Peterson added five points in limited minutes. Emily Fixico contributed seven rebounds and two blocks, helping the Tetons dominate the glass throughout the night.
For NDSCS, Maggie Westling led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Ava Boyes added 13 points. But the Wildcats struggled to find offensive rhythm, shooting just 4-of-18 from three-point range and 8-of-18 at the free-throw line.
The record crowd stayed engaged until the final buzzer, celebrating a signature home victory that showcased Williston State's firepower and cohesion. With balanced scoring, relentless defense and a commanding presence on the boards, the Tetons sent a clear message: they are a force on their home floor.
