Williston State women surge past NDSCS behind balanced attack, hot shooting
WILLISTON — The Williston State College women's basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, rolling past North Dakota State College of Science 90–62 behind a dominant offensive showing and relentless effort on the glass.
The Tetons shot an impressive 47.4 percent from the field and an even better 50 percent from three-point range, overwhelming NDSCS with pace, ball movement, and depth. Williston State also controlled the rebounding battle 50–37, a key factor in pulling away as the game progressed.
Taylah Murtagh led all scorers with a game-high 30 points, pouring in six three-pointers and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double. Her ability to score from the perimeter opened the floor and set the tone for the Tetons' offense throughout the night.
Leila Heffernan added 22 points on an efficient 9-of-15 shooting, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc while also contributing defensively with two blocks and three steals. Jersey Berg chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds, giving Williston State another double-double presence in the paint.
The Tetons' balance was on full display as four starters scored in double figures. Dani Jordan finished with 10 points, four assists, and three steals, while Sophie Barker filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and a team-high seven assists in a full 40-minute effort.
Williston State's defense forced 19 turnovers and turned those into transition opportunities, steadily widening the gap as NDSCS struggled to find consistency offensively. Lolo Carlow led the Wildcats with 28 points, including seven three-pointers, but she received limited support as NDSCS shot just 32.3 percent from the field.
