Williston State Women Roll Past Dawson, Improve to 21-1
The Williston State College women's basketball team continued its dominant season with a 103–37 blowout win over Dawson Community College, pushing its record to an impressive 21-1.
From the opening tip, the Tetons set the tone on both ends of the floor. Williston State's pressure defense forced turnovers early and often, while an efficient offense quickly built a commanding lead that never slowed. By halftime, the game was well out of reach, allowing the Tetons to showcase their depth and balance.
Williston State shot 53.1% from the field and an outstanding 42.3% from three-point range, knocking down 11 triples on the night. The Tetons were also nearly automatic at the free-throw line, converting 24 of 27 attempts (88.9%). Their defensive effort held Dawson to just 22.2% shooting overall and 19.4% from beyond the arc.
Taylah Murtagh led all scorers with 24 points, adding 11 rebounds to complete a double-double. Leila Heffernan was nearly perfect from the floor, finishing with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting while also contributing five blocks and eight rebounds. Jersey Berg added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Lucia Bellido provided a spark off the bench with 12 points.
Sophie Barker filled up the stat sheet despite not scoring from the field, finishing with 10 assists, eight rebounds, and four steals, helping orchestrate the Tetons' offense. Emily Fixico chipped in seven points off the bench, and Williston State finished with 50 total rebounds and 22 assists, highlighting their unselfish play.
Dawson was led by Hannah McDonald's 15 points, but the Bucs struggled to find consistent offense against Williston State's aggressive defense, committing 21 turnovers and managing just 37 total points.
With the convincing victory, Williston State continues to build momentum as one of the top teams in the region. At 21-1, the Tetons remain focused on maintaining their high level of play as they move deeper into the season.
