Williston State Rolls Past Dickinson State JV 96–62 Behind Balanced, High-Efficiency Attack
WILLISTON, N.D. — Williston State College delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Monday night, overwhelming Dickinson State JV 96–62 with crisp ball movement, efficient scoring, and a dominant defensive effort.
The Tetons shot a blistering 53.5% from the field, assisted on 24 of their 38 made baskets, and saw five players score in double figures. Williston State built a comfortable lead early and never allowed Dickinson State JV to threaten after halftime.
Murtagh, Bellido Lead Deep Offensive Showcase
Sophomore guard Taylah Murtagh set the tone from the perimeter, knocking down three triples on her way to a team-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She added five boards and a steal in a strong two-way outing.
Off the bench, Lucia Bellido provided a huge spark with 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting, slicing through the DSU defense for efficient scoring at the rim and in transition.
Williston State's balanced attack continued with:
-
Jersey Berg – 15 points, 5 assists
-
Leila Heffernan – 13 points, 9 rebounds (a team high), perfect 3-for-3 from deep
-
Dani Jordan – 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Point guard Sophie Barker orchestrated the offense masterfully, dishing out 7 assists while grabbing 6 rebounds and scoring 7 points.
Defensive Pressure Fuels Teton Momentum
Williston State's active hands and smart rotations forced 24 turnovers, converting many of them into fast-break opportunities. The Tetons out-stole Dickinson State JV 17–6 and held the Blue Hawks to 29.6% shooting from the floor.
The Tetons also won the rebounding battle 38–44, limiting second-chance opportunities and controlling the pace.
Dickinson State JV Shows Fight Despite Cold Shooting
Despite the loss, Dickinson State JV had several bright spots. Elsie Wilson led the Blue Hawks with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Coral Old Bull added a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Guard Jaycee Hurley chipped in 12 points on an efficient 4-of-7 shooting.
But DSU's struggles from the field—particularly a 21-for-71 night—made it difficult to keep pace with Williston State's firepower.
