TETONS DOMINATE: WILLISTON STATE WOMEN CRUISE TO 101–42 WIN OVER ROCKY MOUNTAIN JV, EARN FIFTH VICTORY OF THE SEASON
Williston, N.D. — The Williston State College women's basketball team delivered its most complete performance of the season Tuesday night, rolling past Rocky Mountain College JV 101–42 to secure its fifth win of the year. Behind a blistering offensive showcase and a stifling defensive effort, the Tetons controlled every facet of the game from the opening tip.
Williston State shot an impressive 50.6% from the field, piled up 25 assists, and forced 30 Rocky Mountain turnovers, turning the game into a showcase of depth, balance, and execution.
Balanced Scoring Fuels Teton Surge
The Tetons featured five players scoring in double figures, with both Dani Jordan and Taylah Murtagh leading the way with 19 points each.
Jordan was highly efficient, going 7-of-11 from the floor and adding four assists and two steals, while Murtagh knocked down three triples and grabbed five rebounds.
Forward Leila Heffernan continued her strong interior play with 13 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high four assists, showing her versatility on both ends.
Off the bench, freshman spark plug Lucia Bellido delivered a standout performance, dropping 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go alongside eight rebounds. Her play helped the Tetons' second unit outscore the Rocky Mountain bench 31–4.
Team captain Jersey Berg chipped in 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Lyssa Peterson added eight points in efficient relief minutes.
Defense Sets the Tone
Williston State's defensive pressure overwhelmed Rocky Mountain early and often. The Tetons turned 30 opponent turnovers into transition buckets and created havoc with 18 steals, including three each from Murtagh and Sophie Barker.
Rocky Mountain's leading scorer, J. Taylor, finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, but was the lone consistent threat. Only one other player reached double figures, as the Battlin' Bears shot 27.3% from the field, including 3-of-22 from three.
