Tetons Take Two From MCC
The Williston State College Tetons softball team battled to a split against Miles Community College over a four-game weekend series, consistently bouncing back to claim both Game 2 matchups.
Miles Community opened the series with a 3-1 win in Game 1, but the Tetons responded emphatically in Game 2 with a 13-1 run-rule victory. Williston State's offense erupted behind a complete team effort at the plate. Jersey Berg powered the lineup with two hits and four RBIs, while Bria Bonik added three hits and drove in two. Shaylyn Russell and Claire Minchuk each contributed two RBIs, and Hailey Carroll also drove in a pair.
In the circle, Minchuk delivered a steady performance, going all five innings while allowing just one run on four hits. She worked around four walks to keep MCC off balance and secure the bounce-back win.
The pattern repeated on day two. The Tetons dropped Game 3 by a 9-0 margin but once again answered with a dominant offensive showing in Game 4, rolling to a 16-5 victory.
Williston State's bats were explosive in the finale, highlighted by Berg's standout performance. She went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored to lead the charge. Bonik stayed hot with three hits and an RBI, while Danica Dominaux scored three times. Cameron MacDonald added two hits and two runs, and the Tetons received RBIs up and down the lineup from Hayley Hernandez, Shaylyn Russell, Presley Simpson and others.
In the circle, the Tetons combined efforts to secure the win. Minchuk started and worked two innings, while Elizabeth Morris provided a strong relief outing, allowing just one run over three innings and striking out three to close out the game.
