Softball Sweeps Dakota College
The Williston State College softball team continued its dominant run through conference play, sweeping Dakota College in a four-game MonDak series to remain unbeaten and firmly in first place.
The Tetons improved to 8-0 in MonDak play with commanding wins of 17-0, 13-1, 14-0, and 10-1, showcasing explosive offense and lockdown pitching throughout the series.
Game three saw Williston State deliver a complete performance in a 14-0 shutout. The Tetons totaled 10 hits and 14 runs, led by Shaylyn Russell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Taralynn Vershum added a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Danica Dominaux and Cameron MacDonald each recorded two hits and two runs.
In the circle, Lily Adams set the tone with three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five. Elizabeth Morris closed out the shutout, tossing two innings and striking out three to secure the combined two-hit performance.
Williston State carried that momentum into game four, earning a 10-1 victory behind another strong showing both offensively and in the circle. Bria Bonik powered the offense, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Claire Minchuk contributed two hits and an RBI. Shaylyn Russell continued her standout series with a hit, two RBIs, and a pair of runs scored.
Minchuk also starred in the circle, throwing four innings and allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out nine. Rory Quigley came on in relief to finish the game, preserving the win with a scoreless inning.
Across the four-game sweep, the Tetons outscored Dakota College 54-2, underscoring their dominance on both sides of the ball. With the victories, Williston State sits alone atop the MonDak standings and will look to carry its momentum into the next conference matchup with NDSCS.
