Tetons Close Florida Trip Strong, Win Three Straight
WILLISTON, N.D. – The Williston State College softball team wrapped up its Florida spring trip on a high note, winning three consecutive games to build momentum heading into the heart of the season.
The Tetons finished the trip with an 8-10 record and now sit at 9-15 overall as they return home.
Offensively, Williston State has been led by Danica Dominaux, who has been outstanding at the plate. Dominaux is hitting .439 through 20 games, collecting 25 hits in 57 at-bats while scoring 12 runs and driving in 12. She has added three doubles and a triple while posting a .492 on-base percentage and .526 slugging percentage.
Shaylyn Russell has also been a major contributor for the Tetons. Russell is batting .396 with 19 hits in 48 at-bats, including six doubles, three triples, and two home runs. She has scored nine runs, driven in 12, and compiled an impressive .771 slugging percentage along with a .482 on-base percentage.
Inside the circle, the Tetons have relied on a pair of sophomore pitchers to carry the load.
Claire Minchuk has made 10 appearances, including six starts, and has thrown three complete games over 38.2 innings. Minchuk has recorded 29 strikeouts on the season.
Lily Adams has been another key arm for Williston State, appearing in 11 games with eight starts. Adams has logged 47 innings and leads the team with 58 strikeouts, averaging 8.64 strikeouts per seven innings while tossing four complete games.
The Tetons' strong finish in Florida provides a boost of confidence as they return home to open MonDak play on March 28th against LRSC.
